National Express FAQs

How to save at National Express

Sign up to My Account

The National Express My account provides immediate benefits by letting you save £1.50 on the booking fee. That brings fares from as low as £4.80 down to £3.30. Additionally, you need an account to refer a friend to National Express, which saves you another 20%.

There are other benefits, such as:

  • View and amend your booking with ease
  • Personalise your journey with extra luggage or reserving a seat
  • Checkout faster with your personal details saved
  • Receive personalised offers and manage your preferences in one place

Consider a Coachcard if you’re eligible

Unfortunately, the Coachcard isn’t available to everyone. You need to either be 16-26 years old, over 60 years old or have a disability. A National Express Coachcard costs £30 and saves you 1/3 on all standard or fully flexible fares.

On top of the 33% discount, senior and disabled Coachcard holders can travel anywhere in the UK (excluding airports) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for £15 on return trips.

Book in advance

According to National Express, book a minimum of three days in advance to get the lowest prices. That’s a very lenient early booking discount, with rail travel often requiring one month or more in advance to get lower prices.

National Express group discount

Groups of three or more people can travel between London’s four major airports (Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and Gatwick) for just £20 each way. The discount is automatically applied at checkout.
