Yes! Both students aged 18 to 27 and young people aged 18 to 25 can get 20% off tickets for the Newhaven to Dieppe route. All bookings must be made by telephone on +44 33 058 787 87 or at the ferry terminal.
Student Beans also has a 20% discount on 1-3 day short breaks to Jersey.
Unfortunately, DFDS does not offer a companion pass for disabled passengers. You can email them at accessibletravel@dfds.com if you or anyone in your party requires special assistance. Just make sure to email no later than 48 hours before departure.
Additionally, there is a disability discount on the Newhaven to Dieppe route. It is the same 20% discount for students, young people and seniors. Bookings cannot be made online and you must provide a disability card at port.
No, but DFDS has multi-trip packages for frequent ferry travellers. You can get the multi trip tickets on the Dover to Calais or Dover to Dunkirk routes. Here are the four tiers and their benefits:

- Silver Tier (5-8 returns or 10-17 single trips): Price from £67 per car one way, transferrable tickets and 25% pet travel discount
- Gold Tier (9-11 returns or 18-23 single trips): Price from £65 per car one way, Silver Tier benefits and 30% off priority boarding services

Yes! View the ferry travel for groups page at DFDS to get exclusive prices for groups of ten or more peopl. Right now, you can get:
- Amsterdam mini cruises from £37 per person

Rather than browsing the Duty Free stores onboard, you can shop online for wine, beer, spirits and toys such as LEGO from the comfort of your home. Simply choose your preferred collection date, time and port, then collect and pay for your order on the day. It saves time and means you can reserve the products you want in advance, rather than risking them being out of stock.
You can also get a free coffee or treat at the Calais Coffee Café or Dunkerque coffee cart when you use the Reserve & Collect service on DFDS’s France–Dover routes.
How to Save at DFDS
DFDS pricing is route-specific in a way that most ferry operators are not. The discounts available on Dover to France are different to those on Newcastle to Amsterdam, which are different again to the Jersey routes. The first step to saving is knowing which offers apply to your crossing. The guide below breaks down the different DFDS deals and the routes associated with them.
Plan ahead and save
This is one of the most reliable ways to save on DFDS, and the discount occasionally applies across all routes. In early 2026, DFDS offered 15% off ferry fares when booked in advance. Similar promotions are available throughout the year on selected routes, with UK–France crossings among the most common.
Use the Cheap Fare Finder
The DFDS Cheap Fare Finder shows the lowest available fare across different dates and routes in one view. If your travel dates are flexible by even a day or two, this tool can surface meaningful differences in price. For instance, on weekday crossings or for last-minute deals. The tool is underused by most passengers who search for a specific date rather than browsing nearby options.
Book short breaks
A short break is essentially a ferry with return fare at DFDS. However, you can save as much as 20% for booking a DFDS short break. Visit Dunkirk, Normandy, Amsterdam or Jersey between 1 and 5 days depending on the route you choose. Your short break includes your vehicle, no luggage restrictions and duty free shopping.
Mini cruise deals
Unlike short breaks, Amsterdam mini-cruises include overnight accommodation onboard the ship. Several times a year, DFDS offers 50% off Amsterdam mini-cruises, with recent promotions including 2-night cruises from £56 per person. The 50% discount applies to the cabin only, not the ferry fare or onboard dining. Children under 3 can also eat for free on DFDS mini-cruises.
Student, young person, senior and disabled discounts
The student, young person (18–25), senior (over 60) and disabled discounts at DFDS are only available on the Newhaven–Dieppe route. As mentioned in the FAQs, you must book these fares in person or by calling +44 33 058 787 87.
To use one of these exclusive discounts, you’ll need to provide the relevant proof of eligibility when booking or travelling. This could be a valid student ID, disability card or ID showing that you meet the required age.
Pre-book your meal to save
Save between 10% and 33% on meals when you pre-book your dining on selected DFDS routes. This offer is currently available on the Newhaven–Dieppe route, although DFDS promotions can change throughout the year. The easiest way to check whether the discount is available on your route is to visit the relevant route page before booking. It includes everything you need to know about your crossing, including the latest ways to save.
Multi trip discounts
Anyone travelling frequently to France should consider booking a multi trip package. You can enjoy 25% off pet travel, 30% off priority boarding and a 50% premium lounge discount. To learn more, visit here or read our FAQ about the multi trip package under “Is there a DFDS loyalty programme”.
Price promise
Forget matching prices. With the DFDS Price Promise, you can claim back the difference if you find a cheaper qualifying fare online, plus an extra 10% off the booking. You must find the lower fare on the same calendar day as your DFDS booking or within 24 hours.
The Price Promise is available on Dover–France and France–Dover one-way or return crossings. The cheaper fare must be for an identical sailing, including the same dates, route, travel class and fare conditions, and must include all taxes, fees and booking charges. It must also be publicly available and bookable online in your departure country.
