How to save money on Hotels.com

The new Hotels.comCash Rewards scheme

This is the most important saving to know about right now. Hotels.com began rolling out a new rewards scheme in April 2026, reverting towards their original “book 10 nights, get 1 free” model after the unpopular switch to One Key in 2023.

The new version works like this: book 10 qualifying nights and receive £100 credit to put towards a future stay. Each qualifying night must average at least £75. The £100 credit lands in your account within 35 days of completing your 10th night and stays active as long as you book at least one eligible hotel every 12 months.

If you book budget hotels regularly at or close to £75 a night, this scheme is genuinely worthwhile. If you typically spend more than £100 a night, the flat £100 reward will feel modest, but it’s still free money for bookings you’d be making anyway.

Join One Key for Member Prices and Secret Prices

On top of the new rewards scheme, Hotels.com also runs the One Key programme shared with Expedia and Vrbo. Sign up for free and you’ll immediately see Member Prices on eligible hotels with at least 10% off at Blue tier, rising to 15% at Silver and 20% or more at Gold and Platinum.

You’ll also unlock Secret Prices, which are exclusive discounted rates visible only when you’re logged in; they don’t appear anywhere else including comparison sites. Both programmes run alongside each other, so there’s no reason not to have both active.

Use the app for mobile-exclusive prices

The Hotels.com app offers prices up to 25% cheaper than standard rates on selected hotels, available only to logged-in members booking through the app. It also features Deals for Tonight — a last-minute booking tool that surfaces same-day discounts if you’re flexible or planning a spontaneous trip. Worth having on your phone before any stay.

Convert Tesco Clubcard vouchers into hotel savings

If you collect Tesco Clubcard points, you can convert your vouchers directly into Hotels.com bookings at checkout, starting from just £5. It’s a straightforward way to put everyday grocery spend towards hotel stays and one of the more practical savings combinations available to UK travellers.

Watch for seasonal sales and last-minute deals

Hotels.com runs regular promotional events throughout the year including a Big Spring Savings event, summer deals and Black Friday promotions, with discounts reaching 30% or more on selected hotels. The weekly deals section also surfaces rotating discounts, particularly useful if you have some flexibility on which hotel you book.

Pay with Klarna to spread the cost

Hotels.com accepts Klarna Pay in 3 on eligible Pay Now bookings, splitting the cost into three equal interest-free instalments. Useful for forward-planning more expensive stays where paying in full upfront isn’t ideal.

Why book with Hotels.com?

Founded in 1991 and now part of Expedia Group, Hotels.com is one of the world’s most established accommodation booking platforms, covering hotels, resorts, apartments, hostels and B&Bs across more than 19,000 destinations. As a hotel-specialist site rather than a full travel agency, it brings a depth of inventory and filtering that general travel platforms don’t always match.

The largest focus is hotels. Unlike Expedia, which spans flights, car hire, activities and packages, Hotels.com is built around accommodation. Search filters cover everything from board basis and star rating to specific amenities, cancellation policy and distance from a landmark. If you’re optimising purely for the hotel itself rather than building an itinerary, the search experience tends to be more focused.

Verified guest reviews across millions of properties. Hotels.com has accumulated a substantial review base across its listings, and the reviews carry weight because they’re tied to actual bookings. Filtering by guest rating is a reliable way to surface genuinely well-rated properties rather than those with inflated scores.

Flexible booking is easy to find. The ‘Free cancellation’ filter pulls up only properties where you can cancel without charge up to a specified deadline — useful for forward-planning when travel dates might change. The cancellation window varies by property, so it’s worth checking the specific terms on each listing.

One Key rewards work across Hotels.com, Expedia and Vrbo. Any OneKeyCash you earn on Hotels.com can be redeemed on Expedia or Vrbo and vice versa. If you use any Expedia Group platform already, your status and rewards carry across without needing separate accounts.
