Book during seasonal sales
Expedia runs several sales throughout the year, including summer, autumn and Black Friday events, with hotel prices cut by up to 30% or more. Just be aware that some of the better promotions are members only, the most recent anniversary sale, for example, was exclusive to One Key members.
Last-minute weekend breaks
Sometimes it pays to hold off booking. Waiting until 1 to 2 weeks before departure can unlock last-minute weekend deals with up to 25% off, and this applies to both package holidays and hotel-only bookings.
Bundle flights and hotels
Booking your flight and hotel together can save you up to 10%. According to Expedia’s own One Key membership page, you can also get 25% off your hotel specifically when you book it after your flight, so it’s worth booking in that order if you can.
Book as a group
Expedia Groups is worth visiting if you’re booking accommodation for a business trip, school trip, family reunion or a stag or hen do. Share your destination, group type, number of rooms and travel dates, and you’ll get bespoke pricing with discounts of up to 30%.

Payment options
Many hotels and properties offer a reserve now, pay later or pay at the property option. It’s worth knowing that this doesn’t automatically come with free cancellation, so always check the terms before you book.
For package holidays, there’s also a dedicated pay monthly option, letting you spread the cost of your booking over 3 to 6 months.
Cancellation policy
This varies property by property. Most listings offer both non-refundable and refundable options, with the cancellation terms and deadline clearly stated at checkout. Refundable bookings almost always cost more, and there’s no standard rate, it depends entirely on the property and location.
One Key Price Drop Protection
If the price of your flight drops after you’ve booked, Expedia will automatically credit you the difference in OneKeyCash once your trip has ended. This benefit is only available through the Expedia app.
If you’re not eligible automatically, it’s also possible to book Price Drop Protection separately for a small fee, in which case you’ll get the difference refunded to your original payment method rather than as OneKeyCash.
